Day 10 of 40ish

If I didn't have a calendar I wouldn't know what day it is. :\

They pushed back [info]lordlymight's school. It doesn't start until this Monday, luckily he still graduates at the original time, it just means that his time up until Monday is wasted. If anyone wants to send him letters (they aren't allowed to get "stuff") email me.

Hmm, I have a slight dilemma. Jasmine's birthday is coming up. Our backyard is mostly gravel, with a little patch of grass, and you have to cross over the gravel to get to the grass. So, I was thinking instead of having kids fall on the gravel why not have it in the front yard, but our front yard isn't fenced in. So, I was thinking of having a pool/sprinkler party in the front yard, but maybe we should just have it at a park? I don't know, what do you think?

There's more that I want to write, but I think this is all for now.

Day 1 of 40ish.

June 27th, 2008 (06:22 am)
tired

current location: Computer room
current mood: tired

[info]lordlymight left to day. Poor guy got sent to Alabama, finally.

I'm so far behind in everything, housework, reading, writing, etc. I just don't really have any desire to do anything.

Jasmine has been declared nut allergic and we have an epi-pen now for her. It looks like her milk allergy may be going away. We do another test in December, and if the numbers are lower then we do an in-office challenge, where they will give her some milk and see if she reacts. She is also allergic to cats and dogs now, no pets for us.

The smoke from the Northern California fires is making everything kind of nasty here.

Jasmine has discovered the joys of pouring bath water on to the bathroom floor.

I forgot to go to my counseling session today, it was at 6PM, but I didn't remember until 8PM, I have to remember to call the counselor and apologize.

My mother is going to visit at the end of July, so I have to start now getting the house ready. :p

I'm sure there is tons more to write about, but this has taken me all day.

If this doesn't make any sense I'm sorry, I only got two hours of sleep and I'm really tired.

I have other things to write about, but they are going to have to wait.

From [info]lordlymight

You are in a mall when the zombies attack. You have:

1. one weapon.*
2. one song blasting on the speakers.
3. one famous person to fight alongside you.*

* Weapon can be real or fictional; you may assume endless ammo if applicable. Person can be real or fictional.

1. Peacekeeper Pulse Pistol. I like things that could possibly explode.
2. Die Motherfucker Die by Dope
3. Jet Li, but only if he can actually shoot a gun.

Alessandra Starr - Goddess of Caffeine Confusion [userpic]

Things going on.

June 2nd, 2008 (10:30 am)

I have a ton of things to write about, but not really the attention span to write about them :(

It was good to see [info]lady_rayven and [info]modus666 recently in 'Vegas. Can't wait to see you guys in August at the wedding!

[info]lordlymight is in Washington, D.C. right now. He leaves for 6 weeks on the 30th of June to sweat it out in Alabama. At least he won't be missing Father's Day, from what I know, this year.

Jasmine goes to the allergist on Thursday. My Mother gave me $300, on the condition that I call her husband on Father's Day and his birthday :\ She says he's "just like your Dad." Whatever! I'll do it for Jasmine.

We just had an earthquake, or aftershock, but it doesn't show on the government website yet.

http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/120-39.html

Edit: It showed up...http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nn00242527.htm

4.9 magnitude, 8 miles west of Reno. Jasmine slept straight through it.

Edit to the edit: Apparently Verdi-Mogul, NV had at least 3 earthquakes. The 4.9 one happened at 11:39PM, then there was a 3.0 at 11:43PM, and a 2.0 at 11:54PM. I felt the 11:39PM one, but the aftershock didn't reach here until 11:41PM.

Edit 3: 2.3 at 11:56PM, there are so many that it is getting hard to click on the squares on the map to get any information.

Edit again: 1.8 at 11:58PM. I'm going to bed, so I'll update later if there are any more big ones, have lost interest in the little ones.

Just moving along

March 28th, 2008 (04:32 pm)
current location: Computer room

We took Jasmine to the doctor yesterday. She has a mild ear and throat infection with a cough. We aren't supposed to give her anything unless her fever persists, but she is already feeling much better today.

We are getting a referral for a different allergist in Reno. Which I think is good. When we first went to Dr. L, in Sparks (50 minutes away), he looked at Jasmine and said "yep, she's got eczema." Yeah... her ped already told us that, which is why we are here. So, we had to come back the next day! It cost us $60 total, and 200 minutes just driving (with an 8 month-old.) Not fun. But he was the closest to us in our plan. The new allergist isn't in our plan, but he is a pediatric allergist, so worth it.

We also found out this last time in 'Vegas that Jasmine is probably allergic to pecans. We found out the hard way by giving her some.

My father should be here some time around the 7th. We are planning on going to pan for gold :)

My mother has been telling me forever to hold Jasmine over the toilet first thing in the morning and run the water in the sink. The idea is to get her used to sitting on the toilet. Well, there's no way I could hold her and turn on the water, but my mother kept nagging. Well after getting back from 'Vegas this last time I bought this seat. I have been inconsistent with using it with her mostly because it is impossible to tell if she is using it. I don't know if it is because Jasmine is sick or just coincidence, but this morning she pooped in the toilet.

Today is international (or at least national) Mama Nabi

Those of you on livejournal have probably never seen my sidebar with 10 links (I only get 10 unless I pay for more :\) Mama Nabi is a great mom writer that I visit every day.

Unfortunately she is going through a tough time right now with her family.  Both sides of her family (her husband's family and her mom's family) are giving her a rough time.  Right now her life is rocky, some things are looking up, but a lot of her life is up in the air and it won't settle down.  So if you can spare any time please send good thoughts, blessings and prayers her way.

Sunday Jasmine started hovering alone, and Tuesday she took three steps. She also learned to use her baby doll stroller to walk back and forth down the length of the house, and she's vicious with it. She hasn't completely lost her dependence on something to support herself, but she is doing really good and this is a lot early than we were told to expect her to walk.

Stuff and things

February 3rd, 2008 (10:44 pm)
tired

current location: Computer room
current mood: tired

I am behind in posting again, bad me.

I got Jasmine a cute swimsuit and coverup, she started "swim" lessons on Wednesday nights. It is mostly just fun playing in the water.

I took Jasmine to her Early Intervention appointment Thursday morning and she failed (as in she did not qualify for EI.) They said that she is not behind in any of her motor skills, she just has low muscle tone. They said to not push her into walking, she will do it when she is ready. They also said that individual sports (like dance or martial arts) would be better for her.

There was other stuff that I was going to write about, but I can't remember any of it.

To-do.
Finish Jasmine's ceiling.
Clean Jasmine's room.
Clean the rest of the house (hahaha.)
Scan comic books.
Find mailers for comic books.
Weigh comic books.
List comic books on E-bay.
Take pictures of baby items to list on Craigslist.
Go through shoes for Fish.
Go through CDs.
Change sheets, towels.
Do laundry.
Go through Jasmine's clothes.
Go through magazines for library.

Edit: Oh, yeah, congratulations [info]lady_rayven and [info]modus666 on your new house!

You are Linear B. Even those who can follow you think you're all Greek to them. Which, after all, is true - Linear B being the first known text for written Greek. To most people, you're incomprehensible. But what do you care? You're tough, hard, long-enduring and have greater nobility than most. Naturally, you don't admit to borrowing extensively from your brother Linear A.

The Life Quixotic

January 22nd, 2008 (01:49 pm)

I've been meaning to post this for a while, better late than never (unless you are going to the airport and then you'd better be early.)

I bought Jasmine an Easter dress a week ago. It is really cute and I thought about waiting and buying it later, but they only had two in her size, so I was worried that they might all be gone soon. Now I just have to hope that they don't get something even cuter in.

We need to get our pictures taken again. We didn't get a chance to get Jasmine's picture taken at Christmas (and I don't mean with Santa.) And we haven't gotten our picture taken as a family since shortly after Jasmine was born.

I called the early intervention people again last Tuesday, it has been a week since I first called. We have an appointment on January 31st. They lady on the phone said that it doesn't sound like Jasmine needs physical therapy, just that she is slow in the physical area and that she is excelling in the verbal area. (She has over ten words and some times she will put words together, "okay, bye.") The doctor already told me all of this, so I'm not worried. The therapist will probably just show me some exercises to do with Jasmine, to improve the muscle tone in her legs.

I think we are not concerned by Jasmine's not walking, because she has improved. When she went to see the doctor at 13 months she was not standing at all. Nos she at least stands supported and is cruising around. She just won't stand on her own, and won't walk unsupported. My mother complains that we carry Jasmine too much, umm, no, that was you at Christmas time, remember?? (Well, I had to.) I rarely carry her at home during the day, and then its mostly to get her to her changing pad to change her diaper.

I've finally found cookies (that aren't from England) that don't have anything that Jasmine is allergic to, and they seem fairly easy to get. Now if I could just get her to eat them instead of throwing them around the dinning room.

My mother keeps asking when we are going to buy Jasmine her new carseat, umm, when we can afford it. Unless you're going to buy it quit asking. ;p (We bought the Britax Boulevard for $300.)

In other Jasmine news, still drinking from a bottle. :( I guess I should be more persistent that she use a sippie cup during the day, but since it still takes her two-three bottles of rice milk to get through the night I don't see the point. She does sleep better at night now. Jasmine's doctor didn't ask at her lst appointment if she was still on the bottle or not, and I didn't offer the information, because really I think I already know what I will hear, (OMG! She's still on the bottle!1 She's going to have to get braces!) 'Cause really, she's going to have to get braces any way. [info]lordlymight has gaps between his teeth and I've had six teeth removed.

Jasmine now asks,"whaot dat?" (translation= "What is that?") Everything has to be pointed to now and the question asked. (Over and over and over again. It is a lot of fun.)

The quilt hasn't progressed very far, and I still need to finish Jasmine's ceiling, and repaint some parts of the wall.

I got an e-mail full of information for my high school reunion. It is $80 per person (for 1 day/4 hours. Ouch.) But I kind of want to go. We have until the 22nd of February to decide, so we'll see. What do you consider to be cocktail casual?

I got a new book called Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly By Gail Carson Levine. It is written to teach children how to write stories, and I will definately use it with Jasmine when she is older. It has some great writing exercises.

Edit: We sent out 73 cards (yes, they were late) and received 11. I think we'll be cutting the list next year.

Jasmine has gotten two of her canine teeth, both on the right side.

Early intervention hasn't called. I'm going to try and remember to call them Monday.

I am going to borrow [info]purplefrog's sewing machine. I'm going to attempt to make a quilt and matching curtains. Wish me luck.

I don't know who posted this comment...
Oh, the snow! You have my sympathy!! I think it's funny that you said you'll have to wait until the snow melts before you go to Walmart. Hehe. If I had to do that, I'd never leave my house in the winter. ;P

But I wanted to reply to it.

We have a Mazda6 2004 like this one (http://picasaweb.google.com/james.kd7jtl/CarsOnTheLot/photo#5065246364973685874) It came with 17-inch rims and all-season tires (low profile.) There is no way to put chains on the tires. In order to get winter tires we would have to get 18-inch rims (the winter tires don't come in 17-inch (and then we would have what I like to call no profile tires ;p.)) With the cost I just don't see it happening. And since I guess the city never is going to plow our street (it still hasn't been plowed) and we only have front-wheel drive (and because there are a lot of idiots here who drive pick-ups and SUVs and don't seem to understand that just because you are a bigger vehicle and have 4-wheel drive if you don't have traction on any of your wheel that you are going to slide, so just fucking slow down already. ;\ ) So, um, yeah I guess the whole point is that it is just better for us to wait until the snow melts, if we can since [info]lordlymight still has to go to work.

Phew, what a long-winded explanation. Sorry.

Jasmine had a checkup today. She is 21 pounds and 2.5 ounces, which makes her 17.85%. She is 32 inches, up to 83.45%. It means we need to get a new car seat soon, we are at the height limit of her current one.

Got the number to call early intervention today, since Jasmine still doesn't stand alone or walk. We're supposed to get a call back in a few days.

Other than getting 3 shots there really isn't anything to report.

This is our driveway this morning...

You can't tell, but we did shovel the snow yesterday. The snow fell so much during the afternoon and evening that it covered everything up, even most of the snow pile from yesterday's shoveling of snow. Our road still hasn't been plowed, not even at this time of posting.

Here is the Boötes constellation...

I finally started putting the stars on Jasmine's ceiling, but I ran out of stars before I even got a fourth of the room done. When the snow melts I'll need to go back to Wal-Mart and get more stars and paint them. I'm thinking of using a little bit of glitter paint and drawing the lines between the stars, so when Jasmine gets older I can explain how they are supposed to make a picture.

We ordered Jasmine this little computer for Christmas, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NW5RTY.

It was in the Amazon warehouse in Fernley, NV, about 47 miles away from Carson City, an hour driving. DHL picked it up and sent it to Fresno, CA, over 280 miles away, 5 hours driving. Then DHL sent it to Sparks, NV, (300 miles from Fresno, about 5 hours driving) (Sparks is about 37 miles away, maybe 45 minutes driving from Carson City) in order to hand it off to the United States Post Office!

I'm not really sure which company is stupider DHL, or Amazon. I'm thinking Amazon, and DHL just took advantage of them.
